That said, there is absolutely no reason to believe that this target would stand up to rifle rounds at anything less than 100 yards, and I feel 200 or 300 yards would be a better minimum. Rifle and pistol are completely different energy levels. This target works great with a 45, 44Mag and 357. A 22L doesn't quite flip it. But it's still fun. Discovered thru shooting a lot of high brass buckshot and slugs, that the residue left in the barrel of my 590 (especially the first several inches from the chamber) was much heavier and thicker than that from shooting low brass birdshot. With this kit was able to completely clean and store, until next range trip, the smooth bore of my 590. After these four (brush-brush-patch-swab) steps using this kit, the bore of my 590 has a factory polished mirror like look to it. One happy shotgunner here. Start by soaking barrel for several minutes with CLP. First use the Tornado brush with heavy brass rod. The tight fit of this brush insures a good scrubbing of the heavy residue build up. Use with several passes. Soak barrel again and then use the Phosphor/Bronze brush with several passes again. Then use 3in round cotton patches attached to brush or jag with more than several passes, until patches show almost no dirty residue. Finally soak cotton Swab with CLP and with 2-3 passes, coats the barrel liberally to store for next usage. Liking it to refinishing a gun stock, starting with very coarse sand paper and finishing with a very fine sand paper. Very satisfied with the results from this kit. (I have a traditional M91/30, with a good-sized aftermarket scout scope mounted, and not the more rare sniper version of the rifle which comes with a smallish original scope.) There's also a reasonable amount of room in the exterior pocket to hold several stripper clips of ammo. The only improvement I would suggest is some padding for the shoulder strap. But at this price, I can't really complain. I'm glad for something basic and solid I can use to transport my rifle to the range. For the price, this is a great case and well crafted. If you're just starting out in the sport of hunting like myself you know it can be pricey. This will save you that little extra cash you can now use for the overpriced ammo out there. I bought this to keep an old shotgun in, and keep spider webs out of the barrel (did you know that even a spider web can bulge a shotgun barrel?). It seems very well made, durable, and the zipper is easy to use. It's overkill for an old shotgun, but it will last as long as I have the gun. not bad for $12.00 keeps up with the higher priced cases. thought it would be thin and cheap, all i can tell you i was really surprised. buy it you wont be sorry. i have a short barreled shot gun, 39" it just fits the 44" case. go a few inches up if you buy one. measure twice buy once. Standard hunting rifle get the 48". Over all case is strong and nicely padded. I ordered the camoflouge pattern. The pattern seemed light in color, was expecting it to be darker. Just the same a nice carrying case. Recommend this one. Purchased to carry my Maverick 88 to the range. After shooting with 20 .308 rounds at 200 yards, the only thing I see on the AR500 target is bullet splatters. However when I hit the T-post it nearly was cut in half. I suggest that you buy an extra T-post unless you're a better show than I am. Bang for the bucks. Literally. I love it. My 308 doesn't even dent it. I know the round matters but I've hit this thing with all types of rounds and its holding up nicely. Plus it actually sounds off when hit. Great target at a good price. T post idea worked even tho I shot the post once lol At two hundred yards it's pretty out there so without a 3x or scope it'd be a bit tricky but I was able to ring it steady and target held up to 223/556. Great value in steal targets, the t post mounting makes the easy to move around. They have a nice ring to them from .22 up to 7.62.
